Feeding all of Hampton Roads’ Seniors

God’s Vision, Our Mission

What started as feeding a couple of seniors in 2008 from the back seat of Kenneth Basknight’s car, has now become a full time outreach ministry.

Since that time we have done all we could do for our seniors. I knew that most people weren’t aware of the plight of our seniors. In the past we have struggled to maintain because of high fuel cost and other growing expenses attributed to running this type of ministry. Now with the support and partnership of CBN 700 Club and Wavy TV-10, more people are being made aware of our needs. We need all who are able to assist financially in helping us meet the needs of all Hampton Roads’ hungry seniors.

We will make every effort to ensure that every senior who contacts us in need of food will be fed. I know that we are doing a great thing by helping so many.  However there are thousands more who need our help. We have a system that works.  The food is donated by area grocery stores and our wonderful partners. Volunteers at GAFFL then make weekly deliveries to the seniors in need that can’t come to us. Seniors who are able and mobile can come to our new facility and pickup all the food they need, absolutely FREE!

Our new facility is large enough to store all the donated food on site. It also has enough office and extra space to accommodate and meet with our growing list of volunteers, as well as future expansions, which will include a senior’s day care. Additionally, it has adequate space to fulfill our vision of having a grocery store were seniors who are in need and who have been approved, can come and shop for their food at no cost to them. What a great day that will be for our seniors.

We have stepped out on faith and we believe God for $1.8 million to pay for the building and another $1.2 million to renovate and buy all the equipment needed. I know times are hard, but seniors are finding it harder now than ever before to put food on their tables. Please be in prayer for God to meet all our needs and send the faithful partners needed to fulfill His assignment to this organization.
